Vaughan Woods AKA Hobbit Land

As this is my last weekend with the kids before I go to California for 4 months we decided to we wanted to all do something together.  We first thought about Acadia National Park but Logan and Sandy went on his Boston field trip Thursday and Friday and after walking around Boston they were pretty exhausted and sick of walking.

We decided to stick a little closer to home and go to Vaughan Woods in Hallowell, Maine.  There are about 3 miles of trails and some beautiful stone bridges and waterfalls.  The paths are very well made and easy to push a wheelchair on.  There are some hills but nothing that isn’t doable with some strength and maybe a little help here and there.

We spent a lot of time at the waterfall area and I tried out the various 360 cameras I have been given through my internship.

After pushing the trail I realized how much better shape I am in since I have been training for my ascent of El Capitan this fall.  I actually felt really good.  I am posting the links to videos below. Some of them are not very good quality as I am just trying things out and getting used to how the cameras work.

I will be climbing in the Gunks this weekend with friends and hopefully will get a good time-lapse video of the climb with a helmet mount.  So be looking for another blog about my upcoming fundraisers and climbing in the Gunks.
