Testing the Samsung Gear 360

As part of my internship I get technology to try out from time to time and recently I received the Samsung Gear 360 Virtual Reality camera.  I took it with me to Grafton Notch State park this weekend to try out the time lapse function.

It works really well.  I just set it on time lapse and set it down to let it run.  When I was done I just used the gear 360 app. which is free on Google play,  to stitch it all together and then downloaded the video to my phone.  It was really easy and came out great.

The camera also is equipped with two 15-megapixel cameras. Each lens can be used to shoot 180-degree photos and videos.

Both the lenses can be used together to shoot 25.9-megapixel 360-degree photos at a resolution of 7776 x 3888 pixels. The 360-degree videos recorded by it carry a resolution of 3840 x 1920 pixels. If you aren’t familiar with resolution sizes that is a really huge picture.  It could be blown up really big and never notice the difference in quality.

The camera also has continuous normal video capture as well.

I uploaded my video to Youtube so I could display it in this blog but it can also be shared on Facebook which I did also.  I am willing to bet that with the VR headset it would look as if you are at the waterfall.
