Tahoe and Visiting an Old Friend

So I am finally in California in my “apartment” for the summer and I have time to catch up on my blog posts for the trip. The internet connectivity in hotels is not very good I found.  I do have better internet now but it’s still not super fast unless I am at work where it is lightning fast.  That might take some getting used to when I get home and have regular old internet again haha,

We decided to visit Lake Tahoe not only because it is beautiful but because a friend of mine from growing up in Patten, Maine lives near there  I texted Jon Parker the day before to tell him we would be driving through so we could meet up somewhere.  He told us an address of a really good pizza place in Tahoe and we agreed to meet up there.  As we were almost there a car pulls up beside me on the highway and honks its horn.  Who would have thought 2 Patten boys on the same road in Tahoe?  So I pulled in behind him and he led us on a side excursion to a really beautiful reservoir where local people like to spend their time.  So we caught up with each other there a little and just enjoyed the view.  It was really as if we hadn’t been apart for 20 years.  We had an awesome visit.

During dinner, we traded stories from back in our school days of course and I caught up on the last 20 years of our lives, the short version.  I mentioned that he used to push me in my wheelchair for a full run around the playground during our reminiscing.  We also got in some trouble while doing that but we will keep that in the vault, haha,  Let’s just say there was a loss of recess involved haha.

When we finished eating we went outside and as I mentioned before he used to just come up and push me at a full run in school so out of the blue he did it again just like old times.  It was a pretty funny and great moment.  It really made me miss the old days when I was younger.  It is really great growing up in a town like Patten where everyone knows everyone and you make friends for life even if you don’t talk for 20 years.

I am hoping to get to Jon’s house at least a couple times this summer and visit.  I can’t wait.
