The Back Story
I woke up this morning knowing it was the first day of summer. For me, my family, and friends this day also holds a different significance. Six years ago today our friend Nick Hall lost his life in the service of others on Mt. Rainier.
For me, that moment sparked a sense of mission to live better and push myself to experience what the world has to offer. I decided that day I was going to see the amazing places that Nick was able to gaze upon while performing his duties as a ranger and just enjoying a life of adventure.
Honoring Nick In My Own Way
So when I woke up this morning I did my usual catch up on social media routine all the while thinking what would Nick do? The answer: He would be outside pushing himself and enjoying what the world has to offer. Nicks parents recently gifted to me one of my most cherished gifts ever. It was a book about Mt. Rainier and Nick’s sunglasses. I thought to myself Nick and I should go on a hike together and I will wear his glasses to see the world the way he did. So that is what I did this morning to honor him.
From Nicks Perspective
I took pictures along the way, some through Nicks glasses and some without as if we were both seeing things along our hike. I can’t wait to get the opportunity to bring his glasses up Mt. Rainier with me and see the view as he did.
